How Long Does THC Stay in Your System?
What is THC?
Tetrahydrocannabinol abbreviated as THC is a major psychoactive i.e. the main mind altering compound in cannabis which is a plant used to produce heam fiber and as a psychotropic drug.
Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in some special areas of the brain which is associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception.
THC (Tetrahydrocannabino) responds and activates it and as a result affects a person’s memory, pleasure, movements, thinking, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception.
How Does a Drug Test Work?
A drug test is a technical analysis of any specimen to find out the concentration of any illegal item being used.
Test contains two steps; the first is validation and second is confirmation. There are various ways in which a drug test can be done for THC:
- Urine Test
In this a sample of urine id collected and technical calculations and analysis is done with testing and research on the sample. The main by-compound excreted in the urine is 11-nor-delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid (delta9-THC-COOH) also known as marijuana. The THC drug test turns out to be positive when the concentration of marijuana in urine exceeds 50 ng/ml.
- Duquenois-Levine reagent
This is a simple chemical color change reaction test. In this a tiny micropipette seal has to be broken and a suspicious substance is inserted, if the color changes to purple then there may be content of THC available.
- Hair test
Cannabis is used to detect with the hair test. If the sample of hair contains 1pg/mm then the result comes out to be positive for THC.
- Blood Testing
Cannabis can be detected in the bulb within 15-24 hours. The blood may contain many mixtures and co-products of THC and then the test is said to be positive if these things are present.
Factors that may impact a drug test result
There are some factors affecting the drug test they are:
- Timing of the test after consumption.
- Type and level of laboratory
- Accuracy level is not 100%
Does CBD consumption result in a positive drug test?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of at least 113 active cannabinoids and contains only 0.1% of THC and hence the chances of being caught in a drug test is very very negligible.
The drug test can be positive if a large amount of CBD is consumed and also for a long time.
Passing a Cannabis Drug Test
You will fail a drug test if you don’t have enough time. You need a minimum of 7 days to detox the amount of cannabis you have smoked and this can be done by no smoking for 7 days severely with regular exercising.
Getting Rid of THC in Your System
To get rid of THC you need to avoid using cannabis and start drinking a lot of water. Dehydration will make your test negative with the dilution of THC.
When the urine is too much diluted, the test is automatically cancelled and you have to go for the test another time.
If you are fast, try fasting because the THC gets attached to the cells and fasting can burn up calories thus getting rid of THC.
