The death of George Michael may have stunned the celebrity world and, of course, the fans, but we never forget the time when he openly admitted his liking to cannabis. The Guardian article dated October 21, 2006 has brought the nostalgic feeling during the time when most, if not all, governments in the world were against cannabis.

However, Michael openly talked about smoking pot as if he was with a friend doing the joint with him.

“This stuff(cannabis) keeps me sane and happy. I could write without it … if I were sane and happy. I’d say it’s a great drug – but obviously it’s not very healthy. You can’t afford to smoke it if you’ve got anything else to do.”

Even though he praised cannabis, he also included a warning:

“It (cannabis) can be a terrible, terrible drug. You’ve got to be in the right position to take it. You’ve got to have achieved most of your ambitions because it chills you out to such a degree that you could lose your ambitions.”

Remember, this was the time when most of the world didn’t know yet about the medicinal benefits of cannabis. You could forgive George Michael for saying that cannabis “is a great drug– but it’s not very healthy”. There could be a possible contention to that. But our unlucky stars told us recently that the pop superstar passed away at age 53. Rest in peace, George Michael.

Rumors have been circulating that he went to harder drugs. Also, the Careless Whisper singer is HIV+ positive. Whatever the cause of his death, his legacy would still leave on as he passed the torch to someone who could be as great as him, having sold millions of albums and who, to certain a degree that we favor, could be brazen enough to honestly confess about his marijuana relationship.

As we reminisce the music that the British singer and songwriter contributed to the world, we also want to share other celebrities’ view about their marijuana relationship.

1. Miley Cyrus

Miley’s love of weed is very apparent on her weed tattoo.

2. Rihanna

Rihanna and marijuana are two words that rhyme almost perfectly. And because of the near perfection, the singer reportedly wanted to launch weed line called MaRihanna, to make the combination more flavorful.

However, there has been reports that the launching was not true. But one thing we know for sure about marijuana and Rihanna is that the artist is often seen with that thing on her Instagram account. She even pushed for the legalization of marijuana using the hashtag #legalizeit by posting a very bold pic of her.

3. Lady Gaga

The Poker Face songstress admitted to having an addition with marijuana.

Of course, we know that there’s no such thing as marijuana overdose. But the Lady Gaga believes the pot is not harmless.

4. Madonna

Madonna with Dave Letterman

The Pop Queen admitted to having smoke pot during her interview with David Letterman. However, her marijuana relationship may have turned not that good recently with the recent arrest of her son Rocco over illegal possession of the drug.

5. Snoop Dogg

The rapper launched his line of weed for real. The Leafs by Snoop is reportedly the first mainstream brand of cannabis in the world.
