How to Make Weed Chocolate: Your Step by Step Guide

Are you interested in making your very own weed chocolate? Check out this guide to learn how to make weed chocolate.

The global market of cannabis edibles is expected to generate over $11 million by 2025.

This represents a huge growth when we compare it to the market’s value in 2018, which was $2,376 million.

While it’s true that the word “cannabis” still has somewhat of a negative tone to it, it’s also undeniable that there’s a growing acceptance to the substance.

And although most people’s introduction to weed is by smoking it, there’s more you can do with it, including the increasingly popular edibles.

And even within edibles, the combinations of ingredients you can make are endless.

One of those combinations is weed chocolate, and trust us when we say that it is a match made in heaven.

Why Do Cannabis and Chocolate Go So Well Together?

You may not have thought about this before, but cacao and cannabis are actually very similar.

They’ve both been used for centuries for medical and aphrodisiacal purposes. They’re both plants, there are three different types of each, and they have a very similar chemical effect on people.

In fact, cacao has a type of cannabinoid in it, named anandamide. It makes us feel good by adhering to the same receptors as THC, the main psychoactive component in cannabis, does.

In simpler words, both cannabis and chocolate make us feel happy. So, when you pair them together, you enhance the properties of each, which results in an even more intense state of bliss.

Weed chocolate can be consumed recreationally, but it’s also a good option for people who use medical marijuana.

Most people do opt for smoking weed, but that method might not be for everyone.

So if you want to use marijuana to alleviate any health issues but you’re not too stoked about the idea of smoking, weed chocolate (and edibles in general) might just be the solution you’re looking for.

Whether you want to try weed chocolate for fun or for more serious reasons, it’s time to learn how to make it!

How to Make Weed Chocolate

In order to make weed chocolate, you need:

  • Your recommended dosage of ground cannabis (according to how much experience you have with weed and edibles)
  • 100g of dark chocolate

In terms of kitchen tools, you’ll be using a glass bowl, a saucepan, and a chocolate mold (if you don’t have one, an ice tray works as well).

The first thing you’ll need to do is decarboxylating your weed.

This means eliminating a specific component of the weed, the carboxylic acid group, so that it actually has an effect on you.

It’s basically what you do every time you light up a joint.

Although the name is complicated, the process of decarboxylation is quite simple: all you need to do is spread the weed on a baking tray and bake it for 45 to 60 minutes at 230ºF.

Once that’s done, you can make the actual weed chocolate, as such:

  1. Start by melting your chocolate. You can do this by placing the glass bowl on top of the saucepan with boiling water. Then put the chocolate in the glass bowl and let the steam melt it. Stir from time to time.
  2. Mix the ground cannabis into the chocolate. It should be as finely chopped as possible.
  3. Place the chocolate with the cannabis into each chocolate mold. Make sure chocolate is well distributed and there are no air bubbles.
  4. Put the mold in the fridge and let the chocolate firm up,

And there you have it, delicious weed chocolate!

If you want to make it extra special, you can add some other ingredients to your liquid chocolate.

Lemon zest, raisins, chopped up nuts, M&Ms and mint always work.

You can also use your weed chocolate in other recipes, such as brownies or a chocolate mug cake.

For Those Lazy Days

This recipe is pretty simple, but we’re sure there’ll be times you feel like eating weed chocolate, but not like making it yourself.

Whenever you have one of those lazy days, don’t worry: there are plenty of brands you can buy edibles from.

The market is rapidly expanding; so much so that the U.S. has even started to address these brands’ tax structure and applied taxes on cannabis businesses.

So it’s simply a matter of looking for brands online and trying to find a flavor that makes you start drooling. You’ll find much more than just dark chocolate with cannabis!

Bon appétit… With Moderation!

We’ve talked about recommended dosages before, but it’s definitely worth mentioning it again.

Although this recipe is delicious and it’ll make you feel good, you need to pay attention to how much marijuana you consume.

Otherwise, the experience can turn unpleasant pretty quickly.

The recommended dose varies from person to person, but our suggestion is that you start with 1 to 5 mg if you’re a beginner, see how you take it and then go from there on the next time you make weed chocolate.

Oh, and don’t forget to eat it on a full stomach. This will prevent your body from absorbing the THC and CBD too fast.

Consequently, you’ll have a lower risk of feeling the effects in such an intense way that it ends ruining your experience.

With that in mind, enjoy your homemade edible!
