When James Rowan joined CannaCraft in 2016, he was at the forefront of non-cannabis professionals entering the industry. In this brief yet vital time, he has held marketing roles as Brand Manager, Creative Director, and currently, Director of Major Brands with a focus on core cannabis extract brands and products.
We had the chance to interview James and learn more about CannaCraft. Read more below.
Ganjly: Tell me about your personal cannabis background. What did you do before you worked in CannaCraft?
James Rowan: When I joined CannaCraft in 2016, it was at the forefront of non-cannabis professionals entering the industry. I had previously held marketing roles in the nutraceutical and tech startup worlds and have a background in design. I have since held marketing roles at CannaCraft as Brand Manager, Creative Director, and currently, Director of Major Brands with a focus on core cannabis extract brands and products. My experience at CannaCraft from the days prior to the cannabis industry’s statewide legalization has armed me with a versatile, well-seasoned background and complex understanding of how to continuously bring innovative products to the market and create an impact in a fast-paced and ever-evolving category. I was born and raised in Healdsburg, CA, in Sonoma County by viticulture-pioneering parents. I have been deeply rooted in Sonoma County agriculture for my entire life. My tenacious work ethic and hands-on approach are a result of a lifetime of farming in the Dry Creek Valley.
Can you give us more details on the partnership with Equality California?
James Rowan: We have partnered with Equality California and will be donating $1 for every Loud+Clear cartridge sold in the month of June, to be matched by CannaCraft, for a total goal of $20,000. Equality California is an organization that members of our LGBTQ+ community have worked with before, from attending seminars on how to effectively campaign and fight against Prop 8, to rally activations to support and canvas for LGBTQ+ rights. We are grateful for the effective work that Equality California continues to advocate for and mobilize our LGBTQ+ family, friends, and community.
