Within the past few years, CBD-infused products have flooded the market. You can find oils, gummies, tinctures, and other items. You might also have heard all kinds of rumors about what CBD products can do.

Some of them might sound fairly outlandish, while others may seem more credible. It’s hard to know exactly what to believe, though, especially since CBD products were banned for decades because of marijuana’s illegality.

Let’s talk about some of what CBD products can do for you and also what they can’t.

What Precisely is CBD Oil?

If you start Googling questions like “what is CBD oil” and “what is MCT oil,” you’ll find that there’s a ton of information out there. Oils infused with various substances and chemical compounds have become very popular, and different companies are trying to cash in on the craze. It’s potentially a billion-dollar industry, so why wouldn’t they, as long as the demand is there?

CBD is a chemical found in marijuana. It’s what experts call cannabidiol. Researchers discovered it back in 1940, though in many of the years since then, marijuana has been a Schedule 1 substance, meaning that it’s illegal, and the police can arrest and charge anyone who possesses it.

CBD, as a plant extract, is very versatile. You can use it to make oils that reportedly have many health benefits, and that’s precisely what so many companies have done lately.

These oils, not to mention gummies and other products, have become so popular that you might have seen them in grocery stores near you. The jump from specialty dispensaries to regular store shelves shows how mainstream CBD has become.

What Can You Do with It?

At this point, some doctors are still reluctant to prescribe CBD products or even to recommend them. Others are embracing the possibilities of what these oils and gummies can do.

CBD oils, gummies, and other products might be able to help you sleep if insomnia bothers you. Other people use them for pain management, particularly if they have arthritis and other common ailments.

Some people have a family member or even a professional masseuse rub them down with some CBD oil because they feel like it eases their anxiety. Others feel like it relieves their depression symptoms.

There’s some anecdotal evidence that it can relieve certain cancer symptoms. Some find that their acne clears up to some degree when they use it. Still, others use it if they have blood pressure and want to lower it without using pills.

What Limitations Does It Have?

One thing to know is that CBD oil cannot get you high. If you live in a state that doesn’t allow legal weed yet, you can’t go to a CBD dispensary, get some oil or gummies, and expect to be in an altered state once you ingest the gummies or rub the oil on yourself. You’ll have to head to a legal weed state if you want to purchase marijuana to smoke or an edible to ingest.

As for all of the health benefits that CBD oil can have, it’s vital that you understand that it may not have the same effect every time. For instance, if you have ten people with insomnia, and all of them try a CBD oil massage before bedtime, it might help some of them, but probably not all of them.

That’s partly because it seems to affect people differently depending on their physiology. Everyone is different, and what the oil or gummies can do for one person, they might not do for a second.

As for whether a gummy, oil, or tincture is going to help you in a particular way, you’re probably not going to be able to know unless you try it. One undeniable thing, though, is that CBD oil does not seem to have any dramatic or dangerous side effects. Doctors feel like it is quite mild, so even if you rub some on to try to relieve your acne, for example, it’s not going to cause you to keel over or anything dangerous like that.

Some people feel like it’s basically snake oil because they try it, and it doesn’t work for their particular ailment. However, there’s more than anecdotal evidence that exists at this point to suggest that CBD substances do have positive qualities.

If you try these products, no harm will come to you. You might notice substantial benefits, but if you don’t, you’ve lost nothing but a sample’s cost.
