How Strong Are THCP Gummies? What You Need to Know

The cannabis industry has seen significant innovation and growth over the last decade, leading to the discovery of new cannabinoids that offer a range of effects and potential benefits.

One of the latest and most potent to enter the market is THCP. THCP gummies, in particular, are gaining popularity for their strong effects and potential therapeutic benefits.

Here’s everything you need to know about THCP gummies.

What is THCP?

In 2019, a groundbreaking study by a group of Italian researchers led to the discovery of THCP. They identified this new cannabinoid using advanced techniques, including mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography.

This newly discovered cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabiphorol, was found to share a similar molecular structure to THC, the primary psychoactive substance in cannabis, but with significant differences speculated to enhance its potency and effects.

The Effects & Benefits of THCP

THCP is believed to produce effects similar to THC, such as euphoria, relaxation, and pain relief, but at a more intensified level.

This is largely due to its high affinity for CB1 cannabinoid receptors, which are primarily found in the brain and central nervous system. These receptors play a key role in the psychoactive effects of cannabinoids.

Preliminary studies and user reports suggest that THCP can significantly amplify the typical effects associated with THC, such as heightened sensory perception, improved mood, and increased appetite. THCP is believed to be potentially up to 33x more potent than THC!

Potency Comparison: THCP vs Other Cannabinoids

A goliath among its peers, THCP is much stronger than any other cannabinoid discovered to date, but not all cannabinoids are created equally. The levels between THCP and other cannabinoids’ potencies can vary:

  • Delta-9-THC is the most well-known and researched cannabinoid. It is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis and is used both recreationally and medically. The effects can include euphoria, relaxation, and pain relief, along with potential anxiety and paranoia at higher doses. THCP is believed to be up to 33 times stronger than this compound.
  • Delta-8-THC is similar to Delta-9-THC but with fewer psychoactive effects. It tends to be less potent, which can result in a smoother, less intense experience. Delta 8 is thought to be about 50% as strong as Delta 9.
  • Delta-10-THC is another analog of THC with a different molecular structure. It is often described as having more energizing and uplifting effects than both Delta 8 and Delta 9, but its potency is believed to be about 25% that of Delta 9 THC’s.

THCP stands out from these cannabinoids primarily due to its potency. It binds to cannabinoid receptors with much greater strength than Delta-9-THC, potentially up to 30 times more, according to some studies.

This means that THCP can produce significant effects even in small quantities.

Why is THCP So Strong?

You’re probably wondering why THCP is so much stronger than other psychoactive cannabinoids we know of.

The answer is a bunch of science stuff, and it all starts with the human body’s endocannabinoid system. Let’s take a little lesson.

The Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex network of receptors, enzymes, and biochemical pathways involved in maintaining homeostasis in the body.

It regulates various physiological processes, including pain, memory, mood, appetite, stress, and immune function. The ECS is activated by cannabinoids that are produced naturally in the body (endocannabinoids) and those found in cannabis (phytocannabinoids).

How Cannabinoids Bind to Cannabinoid Receptors

Cannabinoids exert their effects primarily by interacting with the cannabinoid receptors of the ECS. There are two main types of cannabinoid receptors:

  • CB1 receptors: Primarily located in the central nervous system and are responsible for cannabis’s psychoactive effects.
  • CB2 receptors: Found mostly in peripheral tissues and are mainly involved in reducing inflammation and modulating the immune response.

THCP is particularly effective at binding to CB1 receptors, more so than other cannabinoids.

This high affinity is believed to be due to its molecular structure, which allows for a more stable and prolonged interaction with the receptor, leading to more significant and lasting effects.

But what about THCP’s molecular structure makes it so remarkably effective at binding to CB1 receptors? The answer is…

THCP’s Longer Alkyl Side Chain

The molecular structure of THCP includes a longer alkyl side chain than is typically found in THC.

This chain has seven carbon atoms, whereas THC usually contains five. This difference is crucial because the length of the alkyl side chain influences how well the molecule fits into cannabinoid receptors, especially CB1 receptors.

The longer chain in THCP allows it to “lock” into the receptor more effectively, which enhances its ability to activate the receptor and increase its psychoactive and therapeutic effects.

This structural difference makes THCP an exceptionally potent cannabinoid, capable of inducing strong effects even at very low doses.

Dosage Guide: Determining Your Ideal THCP Gummy Intake

Due to the high potency of THCP, it’s crucial to carefully manage how much you consume.

For newcomers to THCP gummies, we recommend starting with a very tiny amount—possibly even just a bite of a gummy—to gauge your reaction and the effects before considering an increased quantity.

It’s important to understand that THCP is not THC. While you might comfortably consume 25 or 50 milligrams of THC, THCP can be up to 30 times more potent, which means typical THC doses don’t apply here.

Even a single milligram of THCP can produce significant psychoactive effects. For safety, treat every milligram of THCP as equivalent to 30 milligrams of THC.

Overall, the amount you should consume varies based on your personal tolerance.

You might tolerate a high dose of THC well, whereas someone else might prefer much less, and vice versa. It’s always advised to start with a lower dose and increase gradually to achieve the desired effects.

After your initial dose, it’s wise to wait at least two hours before consuming more THCP gummies to allow time for your body to metabolize the substance. Remember, you can always increase your dose, but if you take too much, the only option is to endure the high until it wears off.

Are THCP Gummies Safe?

Overall, THCP gummies are safe when obtained from trustworthy sources.

When buying THCP gummies, ensure that the vendor meets safety standards and prioritizes providing a safe, high-quality product over profit. Key indicators include:

  • Lab Reports: Credible vendors will offer third-party lab results to verify that their products are pure and safe, detailing all compounds present.
  • CO2 Extractions: Extracting cannabinoids using CO2 is the cleanest and most costly method, indicating a company’s commitment to quality.
  • Clean Plant Material: Since hemp absorbs chemicals from its environment, choose products made from organically grown hemp without pesticides or herbicides.
  • Customer Reviews: A company’s reputation can often be gauged by its reviews, providing insights into customer satisfaction and how the company handles service issues.

THCP Gummies: A Quick Summary

THCP gummies are emerging as a powerful new player in the cannabinoid market, offering significant potency and the potential for strong therapeutic benefits.

Their ability to provide intense effects at smaller doses could make them an attractive option for those seeking potent relief without the adverse effects associated with higher doses of THC.

THCP gummies can be fun and beneficial, but you always need to remember to start low and go slow– with a compound this potent, you don’t want to go overboard!
